Mapping

Statistical boundary reference maps are maps that show where statistical area boundaries are located. Statistical boundaries include; area units, wards, territorial authorities and regional councils.

Maps are the easiest way to see what an area covers. It may be necessary to identify a coverage area for a franchise or sales territory for example. Defining areas in terms of statistical boundaries allows you to use area based statistical information such as population, business or consumer spending; connects directly to a range of information for the chosen area.

Other layers constructed by aggregating are:

  • Area units
  • Territorial authorities
  • Regional councils
  • Urban areas
  • Constituencies: regional council
  • Police: districts, areas, stations
  • District health boards
  • District and high courts
  • Community boards
  • Subdivisions
